Join us this Advent as we take 4 weeks to prepare ourselves for the coming of Christ! Are we ready for the King? Are our hearts ready to receive our Savior? Advent is our time for reflection, meditation and preparation. This year the Sunday gospel readings at Mass come from the Gospel of Matthew. Our engagement with this gospel, woven with other parts of Scripture, like Isaiah, Romans, and James creates a beautiful tapestry of prepared anticipation for the Christ Child coming to the world and into our hearts. Cost for materials: $16
Please join us at the Cathedral as we prepare for the Lord’s coming through the experience of God’s saving mercy at our Advent Reconciliation Service. Confessions will be available in English, Spanish, and Vietnamese.
Organist Jonathan Dimmock returns to the Cathedral for his annual performance of Olivier Messiaen's 'La Nativité du Seigneur,' nine meditations for organ inspired by the birth of Christ. ADMISSION: Free-will offering.
The joy of Christmas comes once again to Chanticleer, as we celebrate this age-old narrative with what we hope are fresh eyes and ears, hearts and voices. Gregorian chant and Biebl are never far away, but this year we turn also to carols in half-a-dozen different languages, American hymns, Spanish villancicos that ask us to dance, and “I Wonder as I Wander,” which calls us to pray. Our musical “Christmas crèche” has as its center the holy family, of course, featuring music of Hassler and Praetorius, Victoria and Morales. Completing the picture are shepherds, twittering angels, curious donkeys, some very wise men and you, our faithful audience. This is a tradition we cherish, and we can’t wait to celebrate the holidays with you again.
